The perfect tool for professsional network management
Spiceworks is a comprehensive network monitoring tool that can make your daily tasks in the IT department a lot easier.
With no complicated set-up needed and no special hardware requirements either, you can have Spiceworks up and running on your browser in less than 10 minutes. The program features a nicely designed, user-friendly interface that makes it a pleasure to use.
Spiceworks covers pretty much every area in IT work: from performing an automated network inventory, to running an IT Help Desk service and solve network issues, you have everything you need to manage network installations at your fingertips.
Among the utilities you find in Spiceworks, you’ll see tools to map networks, create reports, troubleshoot network issues, monitor the network for any potential problems, keep an eye on Exchange and SQL servers, and even track disk space, software installs and printer toner levels.
The only complaint about Spiceworks, if any, is the amount of tools, options and elements you need to get familiar with during the first few minutes of use. It may feel a bit overwhelming, especially if you’ve never used a similar tool before.
The best thing about Spiceworks is that if you get stuck at some point, not only can you check the program’s extensive documentation, but also get help from a large community of Spiceworks users – IT pros like you that are just a click away.
Spiceworks is an excellent, comprehensive web-based tool for professional network managers.

Priceless IT Tool.
Spiceworks is hands down the best network management solution I've found - and for free! Not only has it improved our helpdesk efficiency, our issues are much easier to track with the network map, inventory, and helpdesk within Spiceworks.
Product support is incredible. The online community is always available with an answer to any IT issue - it is not limited to Spiceworks support.
This is THE software for network management.

Spiceworks is a vital key to IT success.
I have been using Spiceworks since the initial beta version and could not think about working without it. Aside from the obvious free part, it provides me with vital information about my network and systems needed to run a successful IT department. Everything from inventory to IT services (SLA's) it can manage and track everything for you. It's a small download, an easy install, and is agentless. The ad's are unobtrusive and relevant, but if you can't have ads or dont' want them, you can subscribe to the MyWay service for a very minimal annual fee. (In addition, you have the ability then to personalize your enviroment even further; e.g. add your logo, etc.)Included in all this is a community of 1,000,000+ knowledgable IT professionals. It is very easy to get answers to any questions you might have, be it about the software or anything else IT related. There are even some non-IT forums to help relieve daily tension.Another benifit of the program is it is heavily user-feature-centric. Much of the development and expansion of the program is either done by the users through plug-ins, or by submitting feature requests that are actually read and considered by the developers. For pretty much anything else, there's usually some easy workaround that can be done.On that same note, the development cycle is very short and quick. Bug fixes are quick to be released, and minor and major releases are heavily tested before final release. Coming soon is version 5.0 that will include so many great new features to even better manage 'Everything IT'.
Pros:
Free. Small download, easy setup, agentless. Community assitance is A+. Support is top-notch and real quick to help. More

i've used it for years.
I'm a longtime user of SpiceWorks and am very happy with it. It's free and does a great job keeping track of my network inventory. I don't have an Active Directory network and it was occasionally difficult for me to find out what is installed on each of the workstations, but with the great reporting of my inventory I can easily see who is on what version of each application. The community is also a great benefit and one of the first places I look for answers to a problem or to ask for the assistance of other IT professionals.
Pros:
Great community
Easy network inventory and reporting More

Free, but not very useful.
This is a free tool, that's good. But it's full of advertisements, forum integartions and so on that doesn't have direct connection to the network inventory. I has been totally lost where to go where to find the information. In general it looks like Yahoo in 1999 - too manu not needed info. That's too much for me.
Pros:
Yes, it's free
Cons:
Slow scanning, advertisements, forums and all other non-related stuff. It just looks like a Christmas tree. Not a tool for pro More
